Star Wars A New Hope efx Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot Helmet 1:1 Prop Replica w/stand, no box and no other items. This item has been opened and displayed in a nonsmoking environment on the stand, with a small snake like the one Luke removes from his X-wing. As seen in the epic Death Star trench run in A New Hope. The Worldwide Edition Size is only 750 Pieces. Quality fiberglass, injection molded plastic and machined metal construction. Fully padded interior with removable real leather ear cups. The Prop’s Story: In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Luke Skywalker was assigned the wing position of Red Five and flew his X-wing starfighter in the Battle of Yavin against the Empire’s mightiest weapon, the dreaded Death Star. Using all his skills as a bush pilot in Beggar’s Canyon on Tatooine, and with the Force now as his ally, Luke maneuvered down the Death Star’s trench, evading enemy fire and even Darth Vader, to deliver the final devastating blow and became an unlikely hero of the Rebellion. The original helmet was made from an APH-6B Vietnam era flight helmet used by the US Navy, circa 1969. This helmet included the dual visor cover. A ridge was also added over the top from front to back. The helmet was then cast in halves to make the master pattern and the X-wing pilot helmets were then vacuum formed from these patterns. Upon assembly, a strip of ABS was added to hide the parting line of the two halves. The microphone is from a Racal Minilite headset. This is the same headset that Luke and Han wore when fighting the TIE Fighters in their escape from the Death Star. The eFX X-wing pilot helmet is a faithful recreation of the iconic helmet that Luke Skywalker wore in the exciting Death Star trench run in the epic battle of Yavin. Utilizing a digital scan of an original X-wing helmet in the Lucasfilm archive and an actual APH-6B helmet, castings of an original visor and chin cup, engineers, model-makers and artists painstakingly constructed the master patterns to produce this prop replica. Not the cheap Rubies helmet! Because only 750 were made, and there are tens of thousands of Star Wars fans around the world, the helmet is considered very, very rare. And this is the only one I have.
